For me it’s worth the effort, I’ve got it to where I can do a contractor bag full in about 30 minutes which almost fills an empty barrel. I like it because of the weight full barrel worth weighs maybe 25-30lbs I have a 2km hike to my bait so that’s nice. The best I’ve found so far is compliments from sobeys, 1.8kg is about 4.50 and 2 bags is most of a barrel, it seems to pop faster and more completely then the no name stuff and independent brands, Orville worked as good but 3.6kg is $16 and not as much volume. Bears seem to love it they’ll sit there and lick one kernel at a time out of the holes and right now are staying on bait for 7-8hrs at a time

Default Beavers in Airdrie

If anyone needs beavers in Airdrie (or Calgary) i have 3 problem beavers i bought...
Plans changed and instead of baiting, we’re doing a spot and stalk hunt. They’re problem beavers, and as such, still have the fur on (no tails)
Want to get $20/each. That’s what i paid for them.

Nuisance beaver or not, if you are selling them they have to be skinned. I thought that I would let you know before you get yourself in trouble.

Not true. If harvested on private land the pelt is not required to be salvaged. If taken on crown land in any form, the pelt must be salvaged.

I knew this was going to cause a discussion.

I agree that the pelt doesn't have to be salvaged if harvested under the conditions that you described but this is not about salvaging the pelt, it's about selling the carcass. Without reading anything into the regs, the reg wrt the sale of beaver carcasses is very clear, at least to me it is:

"Sale of Wildlife

In Alberta anyone may sell the following:

skinned beaver carcasses including the tail"

Also:

"Sale of Pelts and Parts

Anyone in legal possession of a beaver may sell the skinned carcass of the beaver to use as bait or animal food."

Wasn't thinking in terms of sale, just use. So the above is correct. We had a CO at Our last meeting, He read right out the ACTS as the question came up last meeting.

Default Free Pretzels

Cam across this post on Kijiji for anyone in Calgary.

Also, neighbors kid works at the Canyon Meadows theater and they have 2-3 black garbage bags/night of popcorn that just gets dumped. Said the manager would probably give it away if you asked. Only problem is its mixed with other garbage.

Good luck with the hunts.
