Default Pet Loads - 6.5x55 120ttsx/130tsx

Hey guys,

New reloader here! After what felt like forever I am ready to start loading some ammo! I'm going to be starting with my new CZ550 Lux - 6.5x55 swede. Ive got some 120gr TTSX and 130gr TSX and will be using IMR4350. Anybody out there have success using this bullet and powder combo? If you have a pet load for your swede, do you mind sharing it? Thanks in Advance!

Got a buddy running 120 TSX's and VV N550, it shoots lights out, with this combo.

I have not used the IMR 4350 in mine but I have a friend with a Tikka 6.5X55 that uses Varget with the lighter bullets. The nice thing about Varget is that it is considered more temperature stable (the Hodgon Extreme powders have this characteristics).

As mentioned by Dick I have heard/read that VV powders are good in it as well. I use H4831SC in mine but shoot the heavier 140gr bullets.

One thing to remember is that make sure you use the load data for a modern action. A lot of the manuals have the loads that are quite conservative that are safe to use in the really old actions. With that said, start low and work up.

Best of luck.

I did OK with 120gr TTSX with RE22 and RE19 but could never get great accuracy out of them. RE19 gave me over 2900fps without much pushing at all (I am not a hotrodder but speed is never bad with the TSX bullets).

I avoided the 130gr TSX as I want that bullet to have some velocity. However, I got half a box on a trade and recently began experimenting with H4350. I get just on 2800fps, which is fast enough, with 45gr H4350 and accuracy is sub MOA. Looks like a keeper in my search for a good non-lead 6.5x55 hunting load.

Rifle is a T3, all loads with Win brass and CCI200 primers (also CCI250's with RE22).

Oh yes, I have tried 120gr GMX (they are looong) with H4350 and N560 so far - accuracy generally poor compared to what other loads do in that rifle, around 2" for 3 shots (velocity is good, however, easily over 2900fps).

You could look on the Barnes website under their load data. Their pretty good and labeling their most accurate loads for a particular bullet and the powder they used.

While not Barnes bullets, I had good success with 125gr Partition's and H4350. Similar weight and powder so you should do alright. RL22 for 140's is majic in a Swede.
