Shooter?

Need help to determine if these two are shooters. Perhaps a guess on size? Thank you.

Hard to see if there is a crease by the pics ...the ears don't look small. They look like legal boars. Depends what you are looking for.

Great meat bears. Judging by the size of the orange pails and the bait barrel in the one pic both would easily fit inside the bait barrel, they are not big bears.

My opinion as well... I like the chest patch on the one on the right.

Not huge by any means...but nice average size bears imo.

Yep, definite shooters in my books. #1 has a nice hide, can't really tell on the second. They aren't gonna break any records, but they are mature bears.

I'm going to say that the one on the left is a mature sow, going by the face, ankles, and rump.
The second bear looks like a 3-4 year old boar.
Would need to see more pics to say different.

Now up to the shooter to decide! Good luck.

Devo, as long as neither one has cubs, they are both shooters.

No need to base your kills on other people's opinion.
Hunting is NOT to be a competition between people.


Are you in a two bear area?

We need to be aware that predator control applies to Black bears as well.
Help out the moose and deer by taking a bear, regardless if others think it is smaller than their ego will allow them to shoot.

Exactly walking buffalo if either of those two bears get you excited and they are legal go ahead and shot. Who cares what anyone else thinks? Ive met alot of awesome people on this site but not once would i ask if a animal is a shooter. If it gets me excited then its getting an arrow or bullet regardless what others on here think.

Thanks for all your feedback. I've attached another photo that has the barrel beside it for better comparison. Heading up to it tonight, both are active at the same sight. Trying to have a good idea going in before making the final call. Wish me luck.

Patch one looks like a female.
Other guy looks like he can fit in the barrel but not far off pope and young.
Shoot him. Dont worry about score. All about fun.

One thing I've noticed over the years in a lot of sows is the ankles and feet are disproportionately small in relation to their leg, especially the fronts.
Also, although not apparent on this one, a lot of sows I've seen have a 'tuft' of hair under their chin where their muzzle meets their throat. Almost like a beard.
With the extra long, narrow muzzle on the other one, it looks like an upcoming pumpkin head.

OP, shoot one and let us know.

First photo there appears to be a visible crease in his forehead. Also look at the nose to ears as a triangle, the wider the triangle (closer to a right angle) the bigger the bear. Second photo is of a younger bear -5'5" bear maybe.

Both great bears Devo. Neither will go pope but who cares if they get you excited! I'd say #1 is a 17 9/16" and #2 is a 16 7/8". Ground check their a** and find out! Good luck

Based on the pictures, if your looking for a truly big bear, none of these are it. Big difference between these and the big ones. However, if you are more interested in hide quality, let er rip. Good luck either way.

agreed the longer snout on #2 is a dead give away. mature dry sow.
