Definitely more city than mountain,

But she tends to ride me more often than not.

Cool.

I thought the BC Edition was banned in Alberta - too fast or something.

I have a question for you bikers.

I am having surgery on my Knee 1st week of June, I have two tears in my meniscus as well as a bakers cyst, brought on by the same injury.

Any of you guys had surgery for a torn meniscus, and if so after the operation how have you recovered and has biking been an issue after the operation?

Thanks!

Same as last year. 2004 Devinci Cactus. Add something new every year or so to make it interesting.

The bars are a bit wide for some trails in Alberta : too fast? It's faster than me

Been riding a Rocky Mountain Slayer 30 for several years. Love the bike, but wouldn't mind an update sometime...

I rode lots after knee surgery, started with road only then gravel before light trail riding. The road riding was initially great then I found it was too much of the same motion, I had to change foot position, seat height, posture etc as my knee got stronger, slowed the swelling. Be really careful only to use your good leg when stopping to hold yourself up. Got rid of the clip ins quickly. I think it sped up the recovery time, might all be mental. Anything to build up strength. I was cycling 50-60 km at about 3 weeks post op. After that, off trail hiking with lots of uneven ground, I made sure to vary the footing and watched carefully where I was stepping.

I got A Kona Kula last year, first bike with front shocks, My brain doesn't rattle as much on the washboard. Anyone using the APP Cycle Meter? It maps and measures your route with speeds etc.

I'm riding a Trek domane on the road. Giant rapid for the pathways and commuting to work. And a Trek Fuel on the trails. Thinking of upgrading the Fuel not sure what yet.

2014 Giant Trance 1

My first "real" mountain bike lol. What an amazing bike. It took me from hating riding my old bike because it was so hard on me to really enjoying it and getting out with the whole family. If only I was in better shape...

If anyone has something comparable they're looking to sell, I'm looking for a bike for my wife, must be an XS frame.

I have an '08 Rocky Mountain Slayer SXC 50.

It hasn't seen a lot of use the past few years as all my riding buddies have moved or sold their bikes. I don't think I even filled up the tires last year lol.

I bought a 2017 Trance 3 in March.

Most riders can only dream of riding and owning a new Trance1 - you're a lucky man - even if it's a couple of years old.

Ha. I bought it used two winters ago for a great price, I wouldn't have it otherwise lol.

There's definitely some CRAZY expensive bikes out there, especially if you start stepping into the carbon fiber realm.

What's the rolling resistance like? Do fat bikes pedal easy?

Even the alloy framed bikes are pretty crazy, I bought used and probably will continue to do so unless I happen across a clearance deal on something.

Used is excellent -there's always a lot of hot doggies out there that just have to have the new model every year.

Be careful with used though - some of those riders are so friggin' extreme they can probably wear out an expensive bike in a season - some pricey components may need replacement. And there's also a eager market out there for hot high end bikes.

Somebody already mentioned Pink Bike.

Kona Caldera, rigid frame with suspension fork. This is my fourth Kona, love the frame geometry for trail riding, excellent climbers. Although I have slowed down a lot since my racing days in the 90's.

Keep it rubber side down and remember to respect the other trail users out there.

Yep, me too.

It's still bizarre to me that a mountain bike can be the same price as a dirt bike, but it is what it is I guess. The market is obviously there or they wouldn't be priced the way they are.

Nice! As for me, I'm rockin' a (few years old) Specialized Rockhopper Expert.

I've rented a couple, On snow/ice or mud, they "float", as in stay on top, and you get unreal traction. With that being said, I rode my 29er full suspension bike all though the winter with studded tires. The only time I couldn't ride my bike was if the snow was super soft (melting), or about +3" of fresh stuff. But I stayed on fairly well travelled single track.

IMHO, they are a great 2nd or 3rd bike, as in I wouldn't want to ride one in the summer (unless it was super muddy), as it would be really slow, not only due to the extra weight, but yes, as you mentioned, the rolling resistance is huge. Weight is your enemy in mtb biking (unless you're a DH guy).

Agreed, there's some great deals, just buyer beware.. unfortunately due to my size, decent XL or XXL bikes are rare. I've been buying new at year end, and saved ALOT of money.
