Lost Guide Lake (video)
Spent 5 days on horseback up the Clearwater River, got up to Lost Guide for a day, lots of wildlife, explored some wolf dens, just an amazing trip!

its about 7hr horseback ride one way from the staging area, i dunno how long it would take to hike, never tried
its 2.5hr from the base camp, makes a nice day trip, just gotta watch for them grizzly bears, the whole valley is littered with berries

Sorry for bumping an old thread but does anyone have more info on getting to Lost Guide Lake?
From looking at maps it looks like you can access it through either Hummingbird or Cutoff Creek.
We would be hiking so is there any reason we should take one over the other?
How many km approx for each?

Stage from hummingbird, I think it was 21 km one way. We went too far and missed the turn into lost guide lake, take a map and use a gps to get the distance from staging area to approximate the turn up into lost guide off the main trail. Nice trip.

We hiked it a few years ago and ended up taking a day and a half to get in. One of the girls I was with got the sh*#s on the way in and that slowed us down quite a bit. I'd guess 8 or 9 hours from Hummingbird.
Most of the hike isn't that interesting but there are some pretty parts. The turnoff up to the lake is very easy to miss so bring a GPS so you can mark where the turnoff is. Hike from there is more elevation gain but gets a lot more pretty.
Really pretty lake with gullible cutts. And lots of horseflies. And on our hike, I didn't see one piece of bear sign... but do know they are in the area.
Cheers.
