Default Tahr rut hunt

Just got back from 5 days hunting tahr. Shot three bulls for skins and meat. The hunt was in one of the coldest places in NZ at around -10 C, which I guess isn't cold for Canada. Here are some iPhone photos.

Accommodation (old sheep musters hut).

Very nice pics and thanks for posting. That's one of the hunts we will be doing in 18. What do Tahr taste like? Strong or mild and any comparison to stag etc.?

The hide looks awesome. A very neat trophy to obtain.

Please. Take me with you.

I've heard from kiwi friends tahr is delicious. Their rugs are amazing and definitely a trophy on their own.

How were the winds their? I've heard they can be incredible.

Thanks for the commets guys.

Tahr meat is great to eat, with the younger animals better eating and mild. But the older bulls stronger.

The wind was strong during the hunt, about 90kms at one point, and two tents got smashed. I have a macpac tent and it was fine. The MSR was broken.

But were i live in wellington 90kms winds happen all the time, so not a big deal. 130kms winds can be a problem.
