Thought you may get a kick out of this quick clip of my daughter practicing with the 410.

that's a poor way to introduce a new shooter to the sport. maybe just a bit more supervision, that appeared to be substantial recoil for that age child.

She was looking at you when she pulled the trigger. Teach your kid to keep their finger off the trigger until they are ready to shoot.

Lighten up guys, the OP was close enough to control the barrel, yes a little bit more coaching is going to be part of this learning curve as with all activities.
I am sure if we had taken videos of all our outings we could pick up a flaw or two.

I agree. If that was her first shot ever, she seems to be afraid of the gun. If she has shot that gun before, I would bet she is afraid of the gun. She seems small. I would suggest no recoil at this stage> Either a pellet rifle or .22.

On a positive note, the instructor was in a good position to control the firearm.

First: love the fact you're starting her young.
2nd: the only one that got a "kick" outta that was her (see what I did there? )Seems like too much gun at the moment and you don't want her to develop a flinch.
I started my son off with a .22 rimfire like most folks. He's ready for a .243 soon but I'm just taking it easy. No rush.
