Default Very nicely done

Hey Mike,

Great job on your season! It'll be a good challenge to top it but fun trying. I'm curious about your comment about the late harvesting of canola. I don't think I've seen that happening in my areas that I hunt butit would sure be nice if some crops didn't go down so early. Is it a new type of canola or just different strains? Or is it just a practise used in some areas?

Congrats again, keep up the good work.

New plant technology. Varieties like Invigor L130 or L140 p are more shatter resistant and have a later targeted harvest date. You also don't have the risk of losing swathed canola in a wind storm.

Hoping we get rain this summer. More rain = more fungicide applications. Last summer we did not apply any fungicide due to dry conditions. No fungicide application = no sprayer tracks in the canola which makes it tough to get close on a stalk.

I am sure you will start to see straight cut canola in your area. More farmers are adopting it every year.

does it go from green soft to hard as fast as normal or stay softer longer...it seems here once the canola hardens they abandon it...

speed of maturity depends on local growing conditions. Harvest timing can be sped up with an application of roundup, heat or reglone late in the growing season.

I still find them in late mature hard seed canola, just difficult to locate animals due to height of the crop. They can really disappear in a mature canola field.

Last summer I was talking to a guy who was involved with testing new breeds of canola. He said that early on, they bred a type that was so shatter-resistant that they could not open the pods! Pretty cool, huh?

Long story. Will do a full article on him eventually. 12 yard shot. Gross typical in the 190s.

Got my 2016 mounts up on the wall. Disappointed in the lack of pics on the forum. Maybe more guys can post up their archery success. Thanks for looking.
