Default .350 Rem Mag

Does anybody have much experience with this round? Right now, on Gunbroker, they have NIB Ruger Mark II's listed at $399. Seems like a good deal(will be best part of $500 by the time its in hand).
A buddy of mine has been looking at a 'moose/bear' rifle but he doesn't want to go too heavy (gun weight or power). I've never owned a .350 but I was thinking this might fit the bill for a short to medium range rifle for larger animals.
Any thoughts?

I've got two .338 Win Mags, a .340 Wby, and a .338-06 A-square on the way, however, that wasn't really the question.

The only reason I state "buy a 338" is that the 350 is almost obselete dispite Remingtons attempts to reinstate the cartridge at a time when it should be accepted by the public. The 350 was ahead of its time when it was introduced.
To answer your initial question my buddy has one and it is devestating on large game (moose and elk) at the ranges you talk about. .358 cal. bullet travelling from 2500 - 2600 fps and you have got a serious stopper.

Truth be known if you do buy one build one however you aquire it I will be jealous as I too love the big bores.

Another consideration to a good medium range moose/bear gun might be the Browning BLR in .358 win. Reasonable weight rifle, and won't make you cross eyed when you pull the trigger. All in all the .350 is also a gerat cartridge...then again, so is the 35 whelen....and then there's the.....

Thanks. Good points all. We actually did purchase the rifle just now. It wasn't so much us selecting the round as the rifle selecting us. For $399.95 and it seems to be ideal for what he wants it, just couldn't pass it up. His only centrefire previous was a M77 in .243 so he'll get a rifle he's familiar with and have something more suited to moose and bear. He's been looking for a while but nothing seemed to be quite right. Hopefully, this will work well for him.
(gotta keep him happy, he owns some of the best deer land I know of along the Battle )

Buy some FL dies and squirrel away as much brass as you can afford and you'll be set for life..358 bullets are common enough!Harold

How did you go about getting here from the USA on gunbroker I have browsed on there before and found some interesting things but thought that getting the gun up here would be a hassle.

I'll bump the thread on that topic. I wish we could get a sticky?

Let me know if you need further info. Shipping on one gun can be the prohibitive cost.
