Question Remington Power Level Ammunition

Just finished reading up on the power level ammo on the Remington site. Wondering if the 300 ultra mag is a good as they clam. Don't know much about this cartridge. All it really sounds like is a 300WM with a little much bang, and the power level just sounds like a poor mans reload.

Remington has found that all the original hype over the 300 RUM, had a few draw backs.
Many shooters find the recoil of full house RUM loadings a bit much, and therefore cant shoot them very well, so opposed to letting the caliber die they have loaded it to a couple diffrent power levels, therefore allowing it to be more user friendly.
As for the claim the 300 RUM is only a 300WM with more bang, well the same can be said for the 300WM, it's just a 30'06 with more bang.
It's called marketing, the manufacturesr have to expand their line ups else wise they dont grow, so new caliber new loading and new rifles get sold, a Free Market Economy at it's best.

I had no problems producing 3380fps with the 180gr tsx out of my own 300 ultramags with 26" barrels.Case life was very good as well, with primer pockets still tight after five loadings.

All a person has to do is look at the powder capacity of the RUM compared to a standard magnum and you will see a big difference....
