Default semi shotguns

I'm thinking of getting a semi shotgun for both birds and trap.

Any recommendations?

One of the gas operated semi's will be easier on your shoulder. The Benelli's have a reputation for reliability and kicking hard.

Pretty hard to beat the old 100 remingtons for reliability and soft recoil.

Default Getta Berretta

If you are gonna be doing both, get a Berretta. I have a 391 Urika "sporting" with two beads. The 391 is one of the most reliable guns around, gas operated so not as harsh as the Benelli (which is known as a great duck gun, not so much for trap or upland). And it's "pretty" too LOL.

I'd take a Beretta A391 over a Rem 1100 or any Benelli, any day of the week. The 1100 is a very nice shooting gun, soft as they come but not as reliable as the A390 or 391, and they don't handle or carry as nice.

The SBEII doesn't have near the reliability rep as the original SBE did, and I think the styling of a few of their other models is a little too gimmicky. Also, with the Beretta you get a proper flat, wide rib.

Beretta's are available with 28 or 30" barrels.
