Default check your licence plate sticker

Just a reminder, to check and make sure your registration is not expired.
The Gov. do not send a friendly reminder like they use to.
Over the weekend I noticed numerous expired tags. If you would like a email or text to remind you, just ask for one at your license center. Just did mine earlier today. Phil.

...or just look at the back of your car.

It probably sounds silly to some, but I do a walk-around a few times a week, just to check tire pressure, and see if the license tag is coming loose. I'll do a walk-around when I'm in a parking lot too, to check for dings.

I think you can sign up at your local registry office to continue the notifications.

The notice from your license center will include your drivers license also.

If you have an AMA membership you can have them send you a reminder as well. Free if you already have any one of their road side service packages. Can sign up online for the reminders no need to wait at the registry.

Also a good idea to visually check sticker on plate, somebody lifted one off the wife's truck plate last year and she was pulled over. A quick check of the registration and the rcmp let her go, down to registries where she was charged for a new sticker...

Got pulled over driving my wife's car without the new tag. Fine was over $300 I think. Ouch, my bad. I could not summon the tears and sobs she can to get out of such situations. LOL

I set our work registration and my own registration up on iCal. Works great gives me a 30 day notice and a 15 day notice. Set up for all eternity.

My registration in this province has expired on the same day and month, every year since I moved here 15 years ago. Not that hard to remember.

Apparently it is. There are even people out there that don't even know their god damn plate # on a vehicle they drive every day.

How some people function these days I don't know. Like cattle to the slaughter house. Fall in Line.

I had never forgotten to renew before last year. I got a $312 ticket 2 days after expiry. I won't forget again.

You can also get an auto renewal for your registration, just sign up and provide cc info (which they already have as I auto renew my membership as well). They send you the renewal and sticker in the mail two weeks before your old plate tag expires.

Did mine this morning figuring there would be lots of people this close to the end but only 1 person in line in front of me. In and out pretty quick. No tickets for our vehicles.

Why would you think it important to know your licence number?

1) Because its on your car
2) you would be surprised how many plate thefts and swaps occur
3) for filling out car related things or registering your vehicle camping or at events
4) because why wouldn't you?

I can't remember my pant size let alone my license plate. Never thought of plate swaps though.

Default Plates

Every time I'm at a mall there are dozens of expired plates in the parking lot. $310 fine should be enough motivation!

It is new this year, it was to be expected since people are used to getting notice in the mail.

Now that it has been a year for most people they should do a couple tv/radio ads reminding people to renew and to sign up for the email/text reminders.

Maybe ALberta requires a plate on the front of the vehicle as well.

The people who can't remember when their plates expire are probably the same ones that can't remember birthdays, anniversaries, or even where they park their car.
