Smile Can I put scope on Cooey 600?

Hi there,

I recently inherited a Winchester Cooey 600; went out and shot it today and had a great time. The iron sights aren't bad but I'm considering a scope. Research online shows that I could buy a Weaver Side Mount Bracket 49350 and Weaver Side Mount Base 48402.

The thing is, there are not any screw holes to add these mounts. Do I have any options for a scope or not? I'm thinking maybe the rifle is too old and they added these options later.

I have attached pictures for clarity.

Thanks for the help,

Mario

The newer models came with a grooved receiver, instead of the earlier ones that were drilled and tapped for the side mount. Find a set of weaver style rings designed for a 3/8 grooved receiver and you're good to go

Western Gun Parts in Edmonton still carries all the old Weaver mounts for the 60/600. About the same price as anybody online.

You have a newer model that's not drilled and tapped for a side mount. All you need is a set of Weaver rings for the 3/8 receiver.

Thanks JimPS! I have scoped () out one that I am interested in at Cabela's.

Won't be long not until I put something on!

I am glad it is the newer model as a side mount just seems....interesting

Cheers

What you have is probably better, as I believe the old side mounts were limited to the old dark 7/8" or maybe 3/4" (??) scopes.

You'll be able to get a decent 1" on there.

Just slap a big old 4-16x50 on it and those rabbits won't stand a chance!

Great gun, I learned to shoot with one of these in the late 60s. My advice would be leave it open sights. The rabbit on the pistol grip on mine are safe without the 4-16x50.
