Default Options for a new recurve

I'm looking at a new recurve, I'm considering a black widow but will look at other brands. So what are some recommendations? I've got a budget of approx $2000

Mainly it'll be for target but also for hunting.

Have a read thru some of my Reviews at www.peteward.com in the trad review section.
With that budget you can get a true custom and a couple sets of limbs and dinner.
Caribow Archery, and Border Archery come to mind for high end stuff.I have reviews of several of the bows from each of these .

If you want a serious target bow look at ILF bows. Choose a top end limb like the Samick BF Extreem and a riser you like in wood or metal, custom or stock . You can have the best of both worlds with ILF and have lots of money left over.

i have a chek-mate hunter II takedown recurve and love it. Its not anywhere near 2k, but it is a hard bow to beat. Its the second chek-mate i've owned, and they have both been awesome. The only reason i got rid of the other one is it was not enough #'s but I was talked into it when i first started traditional archery

Bow for the $$, it is hard to beat a Chek-mate. BW performance at half the price.

Not sure why the OP wants to spend so much money. Look also at the Bearpaw bows from Germany. 30 year warranty that is transferable and a lot less money than a BW.

It's not that I want to spend that much, it's just I'm not looking to limit myself with a small budget.

now you are talking!! I don't know your experience, but if you are new to traditional don't spend to much starting out.You can get well outfitted for a lot less than you think with a very good bow.
Go thru my reviews and give me a shout about any of the ones you like, and I will try to help you get a good bow without breaking the bank. If you are in the Edmonton area we can arrange for you to try out some.

not sure where your located but check out Jack Kempf in Sherwood Park... heard there is a 1 year wait for one of his bows, I have known him for 30 years and he makes a top quality recurve

Bear Archery was a good line up of bows as well... hard to beat the company history. Haven't shot them myself. You can shoot a few of them at Cabela's
