Default Need a coyote trapper near Okotoks

We are on 410 acres and have several pesky coyotes on the property.
They are not afraid of much. Last summer the one den produced 4 healthy pups. We would like them gone. How do I find a trapper?? We have had hunters come in, but the coyotes won't come to a caller. They are around every day.
Please email with information. mkdris@gmail.com thanks Mary

Default Thanks

We have had several replies, Thanks. We're in close proximity to town/roads and they know that! Hunters can only shoot one direction safely. Is there anything we could do to the den to make it uninhabitable? or will they just dig a new one?

Yes, and yes
You can sprinkle a number of deterrents in the entrance, and they would promptly move to another den, or build a new one, nearby.
Coyote and Fox frequently have two or more dens in an area. In case the primary den is compromised.

One thing you could try. If you know where one or more of their dens are, you could set up an ambush. Kill one of the adults right at the den site and they might seek safer quarters well away from that site, and hopefully off your property.

I've never tried that, but from studying and trapping them for years, I think it might just work.

A word of caution about trapping them. An inexperienced trapper could just educate your coyotes.

If you find a good trapper, resist the temptation to check his sets.
Any human activity might put the Coyotes on guard, making success much harder to achieve.
