Default Brass with oblong rims

So my dad picked up some used 44 mag brass, already primed. I go to load some up and found that they don't all fit in my shell holder, and of the ones that don't some can simply be turned a quarter turn and then they slide right in. It seems that some are .001" out of round. Would it be safe to assume they have been loaded to hot? I am curious how they primed these shells in the first place, unless they had to fight with them and that is why they probably got rid of them. I tried a few in my pump action, and they seem to cycle nicely, so we'll see how the rest go. Just wondering if anybody else has had oblong rims?

They were at least once fired, for sure they could have been fired in a gun with an out of round cylinder.

I bought some once fired .338 brass like that not long ago. I threw out all the ones that didn't fit my shell holder properly, possibly not the right move or what you want to hear but that seemed like my best option.

What kind of pump action? I had some brass like that and in my Timberwolf they would occasionally not feed out of the tube. Throw them away and buy some starline brass.

I'm using these in my Remington model 14 for some plinking loads. I just found it odd that they were oblong and not flattened out, and maybe 20 out of the 100 I loaded had this issue. The other thing is that someone has managed to prime these already.
