Default Well this was a first.

I went to check one of my baits today and had 4 coyotes and a fox. 2 of the coyotes had large calibre rifle holes through the middle of them. Obviously they were still alive when someone found the bait and figured they were helping out by wasting 2 perfectly good coyotes for me that are now garbage. Hope it doesn't happen again. On a good note though I checked 3 baits and had 11 coyotes and a fox lol

That's a great check Nube! You must have some great locations. Is there anything unique about your locations? I seem to catch four or five right away and then it gets real slow.

You're on fire nube, way to go !! Back in the day I had a coyote shot in a trap, by a deer hunter. After that, I never set until after deer season and the traffic slowed.

We would like some pics to go with the stories though........

I caught a really slim looking coyote yesterday and when I skinned and fleshed it last night I found that it had been shot with birdshot sometime in the recent past. I'll post some pictures.

Ya I think it was deer hunters. It was in strathcona county and I found a wad in the coyote from a slug gun. I thought it was not that bad but it had a huge hole in it on one side. The other one was a total mess and was a waste to skin. It just ticks me off. I imagine the guy thought he was either doing me or the animal a favour. I set the snares yesterday evening and was there at noon today so it was not like they were there long.
I took a bunch of pics as well but will put them all up on a later date

Sh*tty deal nube. I'm half expecting something similar in the next week or so. I've got permission in one of the PFRA pastures around here that will be crawling with hunters when the annual rifle whitetail retardation starts tomorrow. Fingers crossed my rams stay right where they are and nobody messes with them or any notes in them.

Nube are you pulling all of these dogs off your registered trapline?

Default well this was a first.

That's what can happen when you're snaring during hunting season. Lucky they didn't steal the other ones.

Were you leg hold trapping or snaring?
