Default Need some open water

I've got a new 5 hp that I need to break in.
Anybody know of any lakes within say 1 hour or so of Edmonton that have enough open water to get this done.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks .

Wow, are there any lakes that still have ice on them? I've only been on a couple, and they were clear a month ago. Southern Alberta mind you.

Almost all our lakes still have ice on them up here. Driving me nuts lol. Should be opening up pretty quick with this warm weather though.

The lake where our cabin is in Sask still has a couple feet of solid ice. This is in the "Southern" fishing zone that opens tomorrow. Driving me crazy!

I feel for you fellow anglers in central and northern! Was on Reesor this morning on the inflatable pontoon in shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt!

Family has a cabin at Big Shell, Spiritwood- Blaine Lake area, do you think it is still ice covered ? I was thinking of going for a few days.

I think it would be for this weekend. We are in the Meadow Lake area and it is still really solid there. Warm weather for the next week might have it open for next weekend.
