Default Up to our hips in deer!

I was surprised to read on the "trail-cam pictures" thread below that the fellow thought deer numbers were down in his area.

I have been doing a bit of scouting in a couple of new (for me) areas. Each time I have walked through looking for sign, I have seen a couple of white-tails. Which made me think,"hmmmm! good sign there are a fair number of deer in this new area"

Then the other day I looked out our living room window and there is a deer walking in the field south of home. I walk down the driveway to get the mail and there is a deer at the end of the driveway. In the evening I put the dog out and there is a deer in the field to the south east (about 50 yards away)

It appears to me we are up to our hips in white-tails around here. We had better get to eating up the ones I shot last year so I can shoot some more this fall.

I agree Robin, the winter was not as hard on the deer herds here in the N.E. as the previous winters. we seem to have quite a few feeding in the fields

where we hunt up by athabasca and calling lake that is not the case. there was alot of snow this winter and same for the previse winter. All the big bucks who rut real hard don't get the body fat becuase there not feeding and just don't survive.
