Early season elk
I know it's early but I'm already thinking about bowhunting for elk LOL. I have a great spot that I've been hunting for a few years and have been successful. I usually hunt between Sept 15-23 { peak rut in this area )
This year I have to work Sept 10-23 and I'm thinking of trying the same area Sept 2-8. I've never hunted this area, or any other, at this time of year ( pre-rut )
My question for anyone that hunts this time of year is what tactics or calls are you using ? I consider myself a pretty good caller and don't have any problems during the rut' just no experience pre-season. I know it depends alot on weather and area, just looking for some ideas from people that have been successful.
For reference this area is thick bush surrounded by farm land. Thanks for any help
