John Prine covering Blaze Foley might be the best thing on the internet:

I was very fortunate to see him about 10 years ago.
Very sad. Thank you and Rest in Peace...

The rain would pound off the roof of that little place when it was too rough to go to sea and we would entertain ourselves listening to Bob Dylan and John Prine.

Fell asleep
On the bedroom floor
Me and her were talking softer

"One Red Rose" can deliver me back to that cottage like I never left 35 years ago to see the wild west. The world still needs John Prine and I am praying for you buddy.
RIP my friend, we spent more time together than you will ever know.

One of the best lyrics written ever!!
I hate graveyards and old pawn shops
for they always bring me tears
I cant forgive the way they rob me
of my childhood souvenirs.

Tough night indeed. Poured a big scotch then went mining youtube for JP performances. Last few times we've seen him he was clearly in failing health and his voice was getting weaker but hell the man beat cancer twice. But seeing him early on in his career in the vids showed that he really lived. One of the finest lyricists of his generation. That's the great thing about music and art, it can be enjoyed forever. Thanks for making me smile much of the past 40 years John.

Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger
And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day
Old people just grow lonesome
Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello"

he lived more life than most people realize I would think, and had his share of trials and tribulations.

But I will not mourn his passing but celebrate his life , as I do all of the people I knew and respected that have gone before me, and I'm pretty sure that is what he would want us all to do. he is gone but his songs remain
C'ya on the other side, John!

I didn’t know he padded until I just read this post. I’m shocked, I had read days ago he was getting better. I never got to see the man either which is bumming me out. He was one of the best singer songwriters of the last 60 years for sure. Terrible!
