Default PBS' China Undercover - Scary

Just finished watching PBS' China Undercover. Equal parts fascinating and disturbing. Coming soon to a gov't near you? Never say never.

Well worth a watch.

Last night I was thinking of something my dad said back in the early '70's.

He said, "one day China will kill this world". I finally understand what he meant!

Was in Beijing 1990. One year after Tiannemen square failed coupe. The streets are big, and the Coal Dust was thick, hard to breathe. Many wore masks for winter. Visited the Chinese doctors for my flu I was catching. He knew exactly the solution. He went to his chinese lab behind counter and made me some Chinese medicine. Drink lots of Chinese tea. I was cured in 2 days. The coal dust, I will never forget. Funny we would talk quietly with Chinese citizens regarding the Tianneman square incident, but only in there homes. Never discuss outside in public. They are very good people. Just watch out whom is supporting communist party.

That gov't is scary. Never forget, the current leaders are shoots off the Mao tree. Demographers estimate he is responsible for the deaths of upwards of 40 million of his own people.

Just search it up on your tv guide and record it. It debuted last night. In fact, record the series. PBS is the best around.

Will it leave me with a certain admiration for China?

Thanks, I'll check it out.

There is an old German proverb that loses alot in translation, but basically it goes like this:

On the last day of this earth Chinese horses will drink from the Danube.

My mother used to tell me this when I was growing up, never knew what it meant back then.

Yes, the French will eat the horses, and drink wine, and make love, while the Chinese conquer Europe.

But you can bet on it that everyone else will have to come and rescue them for a 3rd time.

The next time, the rest of us might not succeed.

An excellent documentary!

I know a Khazak person and have personally heard a story very similar to the ones detailed in the PBS film.

Freedoms are lost in an incremental fashion. Who knows where Canadas' warrant-less cell phone surveillance is going to lead us.

And what the heck are all those cameras at busy intersections all about?

I thought that the cameras mounted on the traffic lights were meant to detect vehicles in order to change the signal.

5 G and the "Internet of things" is certainly going to change our lives. I'd imagine that in 10 years a person could very well get a call from the family doc because their toilet and fridge reported a lack of leafy greens in their diet...

I better double up the tinfoil hat!

It seems the Nazi regime taught us nothing. Or have we been brain washed to reject any suggestion any government might have ulterior motives or that they may be trying to manipulate citizens.

I believe the latter is the case. How else does one explain people voting for Justin Trudeau over Stephen Harper.

I see evidence to suggest we have been brain washed, even here, on AO.

A bit ago I suggested that this Covid-19 virus could possibly be an engineered virus that was accidentally or deliberately released.

The vocal minority were quick to paint me as a nut job for even thinking any government might even consider such a thing.

From historic record we know for fact that some NATO countries did study and experiment with using disease as a weapon yet these many years later some AO members categorically reject the suggestion that the Chinese government might do the same thing.

Seems to me that can only happen if those members are incredibly naive or if they have been conditioned to reject any thing of that nature.

I wonder what is said in China about people who suggest that government is detaining innocent people. Are the accused of wearing tin foil hats or of drinking some tainted cool aid?

Here, such insults are tossed about like confetti.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that people who use terms like that to silence people they disagree with are closed to any suggestion that does not fit their world view.

I wonder just how much better off we are then Chinese people.

It seems to me a prison is a prison whether it has walls or not.

If people are restricted by barbed wire and a wall or by scorn and ridicule they are effectively imprisoned.
Who stands to gain the most from such manipulation of the masses?

I can only say, it wasn't me or Caber or Cat or Dave who became prime minister. But any one of us are better qualified then the guy who did.

We should all know (and consciously remember and remind others when appropriate) that certain countries actively lie to the world about their affairs....

The ranking is up for debate:

1. China
2. Russia
3. Iran
4. North Korea....

Many others........ these are first in my mind.

The thought police know we are talking about this... Just a contextual joke.

A Cold War where the weapons are spying, election meddling, industrial espionage, thought manipulation and more.
No doubt about it.

I don't think it's a stretch to add possible chemical and disease use to weaken an enemy or strengthen their own position.

The thing is, far more intelligent people then me think so too.

Some good reading on the topic on Medical News Today.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321030

Given China's reputation I would think they would be a very likely candidate to employ disease as a weapon against an enemy or possibly to control their own population.

That makes this video even more chilling. We could be unintended victims of China's war against the people of Tibet.

This has been happening for years in China, I worked in Kyrgyzstan from 1995 - 2004, and lived as a resident there for 5 years from 1999 to 2004, I made probably 20 trips into Urumqi China in the Xinjiang province on buying trips, we purchased nearly 70% of our products from China.

Back then already the Uyghurs were being segregated and moved to xinjiang province, as they were told to work and develop that part of china ???? I personally know and worked with kyrgyz Uyghurs that fled from China across the border into Kyrgyzstan through Torugart crossing in the Tien Shan mountains, they told stories then of " work camps " and being " integrated " into the communist society.

Interesting documentary. Like other parts of the world muslim extremists are causing issues for normal muslims and the rest of the population. How China is handling it is not appropriate and has some pretty crazy implications especially on the tech side.

I think this is another part of that "simple dictatorship" that would be right up little castro's alley if he had the chance.

Maybe one small small benefit to the big rona epidemic is it might give the rest of the world a chance to give china a bit of a cuff to the back of the head and wake them up a bit. I see Japan is putting a few billion towards re locating manufacturing out of China.

Maybe there are bigger players here....world population too high....too many old people, sick people, homeless people etc draining the societies of the world....a little spray bottle with a super virus....then sit back and act late...make it out like there are attempts to kill this virus...but take time doing it....

Now I got the idiotic juices flowing eh?
