Default Savage tuperware stock modification

Modification of Savage & Stevens 200 tuperware stocks and the Savage plastic Accustock by filling the butt section with expanding insulation/caulking foam is commonly reported and seems to be a good idea with very little possibility for causing problems. My new Accustock had a small (3"x4") piece of white Styrofoam that does not seem to do very much if anything to reinforce the stock or deaden the hollow sound.

I would appreciate comments from any who have done this modification.
Did you use regular or low expanding foam?
Did you do it in one application or several thinner layers?
Did you experience any unwanted swelling of the stock?
Is it an improvement and was it worth the effort?
Other comments?

TIA

I would use the low expanding stuff that's meant for Windows and doors. The other stuff migj push foam where you don't want it.

I tried the expanding stuff once..... After about 2weeks it still hadn't cured properly deeper inside. Now I just carve a rigid piece of styrofoam to fit th hollow properly. Which also can be removed later.

I did this to my axis stock. I used Great Stuff for large spaces (about $8 at home depot), it turned out really well the stock feels and sounds a little more solid. Mask off the whole stock for when using the foam, it can be a sticky mess to clean off unwanted areas.

Did a savage stock as well. Just used expanding foam for doors and windows. Left recoil pad off for it to set up and trimmed away excess. Now is a good time to add weight if needed. I put 8 oz of buck shot back there to balance the rifle out and help with recoil. Turned out fine. I would do it again.
