Default Vanguard S2 VS 1/2 ton pick up

So now that I'm home I've taken my rifle apart to inspect it for damage after this weekends activities. This is what happens when you're a dumb ass and drive over your rifle with your truck. Actually I expected it to be a lot worse. I can probably live with a small crack in the stock. Probably not though as it will bug the crap out of me forever.

My perfect rifle is no longer perfect, and it's my only hunting rifle

So is this the same gun that's in the but and sell? And is there a discount on it now lol. All kidding aside that sucks, but I'm sure you could find a way to fix it or find something aftermarket. At least you got sometime before fall.

Lol, yes it's in the buy and sell. I haven't had a chance to take the ad down yet. Think ill keep it now. We have history together. I do love the rifle and maybe it was a sign that I shouldn't sell. Ill either live with the crack or eventually replace. Another guy on here offered me a free S2 stock for free so I just have to go pick it up at some point.

I own a pile of guns and usually travel with at least two or three when Iam out shooting gophers but I have never run one over or even come close to running one over. I would be some kinda mad if I run over my S&B or one of my guns.

There are lots of aftermarket stocks available for the Howa action.

If someone offered you a free replacement stock then take it. I love the factory stocks on the S2.

I bet weatherby would probably set you up too. They have great service.

I feel your pain (a bit). Years ago, after shooting a deer on open prairie, I laid my Marlin 336 on the snow about 3M from the animal as I started to gut it...buddy came to look driving his pick-up....

It is starting to acquire history. Before it was interchangable with any other similar rifle. Now it is "your gun" and has started a story that will bring back memories and can be passed on for generations.

As with any gun story it will grow with time. Use your imagination and start the growth now. Possible suggestions.

It improved the accuracy down to half inch groups.
I was attacked by a moose and I hit it with my rifle.
I am sure you can come up with better.

P.S. If that is all the damage done you need a bigger truck.

What would Red/Green do?
Good reason to buy a replacement stock for it though.
At least it is repairable.
