Default recoil pad suggestions for Wing'ster 870 ?

For an early 1970s Remington Wingmaster 870 (wood stock),
what are some viable replacement recoil pad options (not interested in slip-ons). Am looking for maximum recoil absorption due to eye injury.

I am looking to remove the old pad and glue/screw a new one. If the only way to get a good clean fit is to go the "grind-to-fit" approach, I will farm this out to a 'smith.

Here's what I've found out so far:

According to the web, Remington's 'SuperCell' pad does not closely fit the wooden Wingmaster stock.

From the same source, 'Limbsaver' pads are hit and miss on fit.

What about Pachmayr's 'Decelerator' pads?

Suggestions and first-hand experience w older wood-stocked Wingmasters would be appreciated.

I think you'll find the only way to get a perfect fit is to grind one down. Sorry, not what you wanted to hear.

X2! Depending on the age of the wood and the wear of the tooling, there will be minor differences- enough to see and fel the difference.
Grind to fit is the best way for a good job.

A red rubber would look good if you can find them. Not sure if they come find to fit.
