Maybe, maybe not. If they do get knocked out, I will PM for some helping making up excuses for why they were unjustly deprived of their place in Hockey Glory, as you guys are so good at it, what with all the practice....

There is hope, I think they are playing another hurt team.

In fairness, ya never know. Maybe the best players on the Stars will get the Rona and the team will have to dress the zamboni crew as replacements.

We’d probably still hear how great the Flames play was and how Looch looked like a superstar if it happened.

Ben Bishop and Tyler Seguin currently out with injuries.

Well Calgary winning a series against Dallas wouldn’t be an upset. They are a fairly close team in regards to this years standings. A hot Talbot could make the difference...

But at least the oilers will be getting another first round pick!

Calgary beating out Dallas wouldn’t really be an upset.
The first series teams played was an indicator of which teams were able to pull there teams together in a short period of time and make it work.
Calgary appears to be one of those teams.

Good luck trying to ice 4 guys at 10 mill each. That’s if Lafrenier pans out and is deserving of that after his entry level contract. Someone will have to go. You still have to put a team on the ice....

I know you were being sarcastic but there are a lot of oil fans hoping for Lafrenier.

Lafrenier will just complicate things. Unless they trade him or the Kraut...

There are currently 31 teams that get a 1st round pick.
Or you mean somehow they get 2 first round picks?

Realistically I highly doubt they could keep that many high end players. Mcdavid is safe. (Or stuck depending on who you Cheer for lol).
Who ever offers the best return between Leon and young phenom is going.
But let’s not count our chickens till they hatch... lol

Perfect, already supplying an excuse for Calgary....if they beat Dallas. I can hear it now....'Calgary only won because they played hurt team's.....as if every team doesn't have to deal with injuries....but anyway. Good start.

The Flames will be alright "IF" they gear up for playoff hockey and realize that stupid qualifying round is done and the real "playoffs" (?) start now and its going to get rough, unfortunately their big guns have a history of disappearing when the going gets rough

They sure do....and they were mostly absent even against Jets. But I got a glimmer of hope watching that third line set the tone for game 4, if they can carry that on and the whole team buys in to that (other than Johnny because that would be suicidal)....they have a chance. Whatever success they have, they can't count on him in playoff hockey. And Monahan will need to step up his game. I'm hoping Talbot keeps up his play, when he is engaged like that he is actually pretty damn good. Nobody goes deep without top notch goaltending.

Either way, they win or they lose. Hopefully it is good competitive hockey to watch. I'm not putting any bets on any of it.

If they happened to end of with 1st overall pick, it would be traded. It's going to take 2-4 years for him to come into his own, which adds that many years to McDavids window. Dri is already there....
There's been a team or 2 with some degree of success (sarcasm) with 2 stars up front. Oilers have that now, why would they give it up? Doesn't come along that often. Work on the rest.
I could see Nuge getting traded, which would a shame but understandable
Holland will work his magic. Remember he got rid of Lucic and that contract (like Lucic without that contract)....not much he can't do

Your right I’m not. But I do know I’d rather cheer on a team like Vegas with no Mcdavid or Drai but be balanced throughout and a winner. 2 division championship and 1 conference championship in 3 years of being in the league.

All Mcdangles goals and Drai’s goals are empty and don’t amount to anything at this point. But hey if you enjoy the razzle dazzle goals but no success as a team that’s fine. As long as your being entertained. Drai is proven scorer and will garner an awesome return in a trade to help rebuild. There are a lot of players on this team that should be in the AHL. It’s time we get some NHL talent. Trade the Kraut.... lol

Ok, I play along. Let’s say they trade Draisaitl, which established # 1 d-man would need to come back?

Yea you are right. It would have to be a Doughty Weber type deal.

I wouldn't trade Dria for either of these two! I'd consider Victor Hedman, and a high draft pick as a start. Maybe Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Yes that type of player. Oilers blue line sucks. Everyone is all Klefbom this and Klefbom that. Klefbom on a lot of other teams is a number 2 or 3. He’s -12, -11 and -17 in the last three years. He’s far from the shut down defenceman that will give you playoff success. The reason this team sucks is that Larsson and Klefbom are the best the Oilers have. Larson had a minus 28 a year ago.
Sure plus minus can be a deceiving stat at times but not always...

Just spitballing here but what if a deal included Justin Shultz or Jeff Petry???

Those were two mistakes in letting them go i always thought. Especially Petry. He just potted two game winners in the last serious and he’s a way better D Man now than anyone we have in the lineup.

I’m guessing the happiness comes from being out of that horrible contract of Lucic.

You guys paid majority of his front ended bonuses as salary so yep 😊. Made our ownership happy. Atleast your in a position to do a compliance buyout where Lucic was buyout proof

Look a little deeper into the contract
Second part of your post wasn't there when I quoted. Yes, that's what the trade was about
