Default Upper Elbow Thanks,Question

Hi Folks,

Noticed a sign at Canyon Creek saying and Elbow River saying fishing is closed...

Anyone know why this is or when it will be open to fish the canyon?

that section is likely closed to protect spawning bulls. There are similar closures on the sheep and the highwood in the upper reaches, though the bull population in the elbow is not as high as those rivers.

FYI, there are better rivers and streams to fish then the Elbow... Next to the Kananaskis it probably the 2nd worst water to fish in Southern Alberta.

Just saying!

It is closed year round, and may always be closed.

That section has been closed for a long time. From there to the falls it will probably be closed forever and I second the notion that it is a crappy watershed. Holes that should hold great amounts of fish hold one trout or a couple whites. I can count on two hands the number of trout I have caught there

Ouch! It's not a good stream, but I've been luckier than that.
