New snare location
Thought I'd start a new thread of a place a got excess to last night and I loaded it up with snares this morning. We will start of with a few of the at least 30 trails with some what I call QE2 coyote hiways. http:// http://

How many did you set coy ? Looks like a spot I have but don't dare set because of ranchers dogs .. Good luck and keep us updated .

20 heavy trails. I ran out of snare. I double set some trails. No domestic dogs here.

chopped some water holes and had to run and check the location. Oh boy oh boy what a way to bring in the new year. Fur fur fur. Will post some Pictures in the afternoon

Great job Coy coyote! That's a great catch. I've got a location like that going to a dead pit at a hog barn. The only problem is that at least 80% of the coyotes there have either mange, or are rubbed or damaged. Great for target practice, but not worth skinning at all. Keep up the good work. Hey Coy, I'd love to see a few pictures of your snares set up at those fences. I'm thinking that there is a little more involved to setting snares at fences that might help to avoid bad catches. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Did you block off part of that wide trail to funnel the coyotes into your snare?
Did you tie the strands of wire together to make the opening bigger?
Any tips that'll help to avoid bad catches from coyotes entering the snare foot first?
How do you support the snare, a piece of bailing wire on a strand of barbed wire?

I myself would like to see this also ive got a fence between my bait but its wide open zero bush or scrub they go thru not really on a normal path just wherever they feel like it ive had a couple go under with in 6 inches of my dam snare 😭

I did takes some pics. I have never had a bad catch on the fence As far as a foot and the foot in the loop. I use baling wire on my long snares on the set supports snares I don't have too.

I'd like to see the snares set as well. I have had some bad catches at these types of spots. The last one was the other day and I had him by the 2 backfeet right at the ankles lol

Good job coy , put me in the bunch that wants to se the fence setup , I have a few spots like those too , but haven;t had much luck there .

Pictures coming up. I reset the seven and set some more. I block with long grass at least open to six inches from my loop. Too much blocking scares them (I think). I love using tumble weeds. Hate using twigs. (they fall over and foul your snare. I like at least 6 inch from the ground to my snare regardless of the wire height. I might ty it up if it's to low. Heres one pic with a little blocking on the left side. Had a coyote there this morning. http://

5/64. 1/19. I ran out of cable so I bought a few feet of 5/64 7/7. Bad idea. Lost 5 in one night fence lines are bad on cable. I'm going to try some 1/16 1/19 on some trails where the fence line cross is too wide. Had one refusal this morning. I m total in awe with the kill springs on fence lines . Trail stays narrow and nothing tore up at the crossings

How's the coyote snaring going ? Do you mind posting more pics of the caught yotes and especially pics of the finished set ?
