Sheep hunting tent
So a buddy and myself are gearing up for our first backpack sheep hunt this upcoming fall. I'm just wondering what everyone is using as far as tents go. There sure are a lot of options out there. Let's put a 4-450$ budget it if we have to and probably mostly early season this year. Thanks in advance.

I have a Hubba Hubba. Haven't used it for sheep hunting, but I'll echo the 3 man tent comment unless you're awful comfortable with your hunting partner. It's a great backpacking tent for the wife and I though. Sub 4 lbs and set up/take down is quick. Not the best stakes, or an abundance of length on the guy outs, but those are easy enough issues to fix. I've never had it in severe wind though, so not sure of it's performance in that regard.

if your going to be staying in the same tent buy a 3 man, if your solo use a siltarp. i have done it both ways and they siltarp is the way to go, lighter and cheaper. and your buddy that is chopping logs like a stihl is a little further away lol

I like my marmot catalyst 2man for myself. Im a large fellow that appreciates the extra space.

I have the MSR Hubba Hubba and it works well, but could be longer. Even with the guy-outs its too short (I'm 6'0", and obviously the sleeping bag is longer than me.
I'm looking at hot tent options right now and some of the Seek Outside products look good. They'll blow way past your $450 budget but check out the Silvertip tipi shelter.

I would also take a look at seek outside. I have the redcliff and it is awesome, but beyond your range. Some of their smaller options come in within your budget though, and allow you the ability to include a stove down the road if you choose.

I have been using the msr mutha hubba tent for two guys for three years now. It has been a solid tent. Always kept us dry and lots of guy out points for when the wind picks up (which is always ).
For two guys a three man tent is best. Have used a two man, but I'll pack the extra weight any day for the extra space.
Two one man tents is a option. Easier to find a spot to set up with the smaller foot prints.

Myself and my hunting buddy will each be buying a tent. We are both looking at 2 man tents as we both like our space. The msr Hubba Hubba looks like a good mix of lightweight and quality without being crazy expensive.

The Seek Outside Silvertip falls in your budget if you're willing to go floorless and use a/some trekking poles for the centre pole.
I'm just venturing into floorless tents, so I'll let someone else with more experience speak to the benefits.

I agree with the hubba hubba as a tent for one, I bring my pack inside and a dog if I bring one. Three man is the way to go for two hunters. Got a vestibule on both sides with two entrances so you don't have to climb over each other to take a leak outside. I prefer my own tent and don't have to smell armpits and farts unless they are mine. Good old mountain house.

The MEC spark 2 is a good tent for the price. For a few more coins I have the Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL2. we used it in Willmore. It's an ultralight tent. It's a little bit "dainty" as its ultralight. Can't have your bubba buddy ripping on the zippers. Only weighs 1kg. was ok for 2 close people, perfect for 1.

i have a big agnes tumble 2 mtn glow and i'm impressed with it so far.the led lights aren't necessary in my mind but kinda nice to read a book in the dark. maybe a hair on the heavy side at 5# but it did well in a thunderstorm on a ridge of a mountain. solid tent.
