Default Fur Harvester Auction Jan 16

Anyone have any fur in the auction?

Will the results of the auction be a good indicator of market conditions?

Hard to say Dave , only 9490 coyotes on offer so not a big sale as far as they are concerned .

Yeah, if I remember correctly last year there were mainly eastern coyotes in the FH auction. I remember looking at the results and going until I figured it out. Maybe the auction will shed some light on beaver and muskrat though. I don't know anyone who sends their coyotes there but I do know a couple of guys that send their rats and beaver there.

From th coyote point of view, I wouldn't read too much into this sale, I think they only had about 800 western heavy coyotes, but it is still an indicator. I can't see too many folks making the trip to buy there. I doubt that the biggest coyote bigshot in the world was there to run the prices up with his deep pockets.

Peter, those prices in USD or Canadian?

I believe that's us dollar and ya top western coyote was 120 or 122. Rat top was 6.75 give or take I think they said little to no interest in rats.

Prices ain't worth a dang in my opinion. It wasn't much of a sale, granted, but you know some speculators sent in some nice stuff just in case things got hot. Not a good sign to see less than 100% clearance on a "sold out" market with a fair amount of buyers in attendance.

Sad prices. I was actually happy to see $3.70 for ermine. Everything else seems too low. Otter average is just downright sad and mink too.

Wonder what marten and fisher will go for at nafa?
