new cooper 25-06ai
Finally shot my new toy,thnaks to Clay at Prophet River
Here are a couple 3 shot groups, shot today using Nosler 115 particians and IMR 4831
|

OK so there is one shot on each of those targets....where are the other 2 shots on each??

don't worry with a but of load development and maybe some target style bullets it'll start shooting better

The chrony says 3220 for a 115 grain partition, I see a little bit of pressure so next experiment wil be to back off the oal.
Still playing,next up 120 grain partition

No feeding issues and actually the fireforming went real easy.
Its being a lot of fun and going to be a good learning curve

Nice! Were you fire-forming brass or did you do that already before you shot these groups at 3200 fps?

The brass was already fireformed,I used remington brass with 51 grains of 4831 and some 100 grain Nosler Ballistic tips seated out to touch nthe rifling,it went really well. Suprisingly enough even when fireforming I was getting 1/2 to 3/4 in groups

ps: My .25-06 loves 110 gr. Accubonds. They hit like Thor's hammer, too.

I've noticed on several rifles, if its a shooter, it will shoot factory ammo or handloads made for fire-forming just about as well..just not quite as fast or quite as accurate as a tuned load.
Nice lookin load for fire-forming. Imho a medium book load beats the crap outta cream of wheat or kapok popcorn fire-forming loads.
Wheneverr I fire-form, I shoot off-hand and practice my reloading from the shoulder (even after shooting a few years the urge to lower the rifle to reload is still there.) Great practice and I'm not really looking for accuracy fire-forming.

Thxs Ackley,the fireforming went well,no hiccups. Its being a lot of fun working with this aspect of handloading. The AI rifle / cartridge combination is a new venture for myself.
The picts shown are the 115 noslers / with a stiff load of Imr 4831. The bullets are seated out to just touch the lands,I may have to reduce the powder a bit or seat deeper as there are very slight pressure signs.

Your right this toy is amazing,groups opened when I seated bullets deeper to drop pressures.
Still shooting 3 shot groups of around 1/2 inch,so I cant complain.
Trying different seating depths tomorrow
