My son got one. Right out of the box and off for warranty. Lever was sloppy and wouldn't stay closed. He loves it now.

If I’m not mistaken Ruger is taking ownership of the Marlin products. Hopefully they will bring back the QC needed.

Sold my old 1895 45-70 with 22" barrel and picked up the dark in 45/70. Function is flawless. Did Do a bit of fitting with the wood stock as I wanted to get rid of the black anyways. Honed the trigger sear and improved trigger break. Other than that it was a well made gun. Shoots nice groups too with the xs sights.
I love the looks of the SBL it's a beautiful gun for sure. I'm sure you will love poking big holes in things
