Default Old Remington Left Hand 30-06

I have been looking for a nice left-hand 7MM left hand bolt with all the new great goodies, synthetic stock, stainless barrel and long range ability. Since I own a nice old left hand Remington 700 BDL B serial number rifle I was thinking about making it into the rifle of my dreams. My question is can I convert this 30-06 to a 7MM re-barrel and should I be messing with such a fine old rifle that has treated me well.

No I don't think so because the parent case is not the same and therefore the bolt face on the .30-06 you have is too small for the 7mm Rem Mag.

Default Remongton LH BDL

Thank you, I guess I will continue shopping. Wanted a 7MM guess I will have to settle for a Weatherby 300 WM or 300 Weatherby mag. Not many LH with that nice 54 degree bolt in other makes.

Have a look at the Browning A-bolt Stainless Stalkers.....might be what you're looking for in a stock rifle. (60 degree bolt)

Yes you can do it.

I'd offer to tell you how but I'd get no end of grief for it. Call Dennis Sorensen.

Default New Rifle

Price range depends on what I get for my dough. I have looked at Weatherby at about 2k. I have seen Browning at 1K. Tika is in between. I just keep thinking the glass will be more than the rifle as I am thinking Night Force. Would really like to find a well cared for used Weatherby with low round count in 300 anything. They do offer 30-378 in LH this year. As always I like to take my time. . .the hunt is much more fun than the finish.

I would suggest Cooper, but they start at close to $3000 in left handed magnum models.

I am just curious inorder to turn the .30-06 into a 7mm Rem Mag. Do you need to do a rebarrel and replace the bolt? or can the bolt be reworked to accept the larger case head?

Just a question if you can afford a night force why would u bother with a used rifle? A night force is a pretty expensive piece of glass

In some ways reworking a used gun can be a good deal. It is not any cheaper but in my case my older rifles have some nice features. Solid steel, often from the forged part era, often noticeably tighter tolerances and quality control.

A trip to a good smith for quick inspection would answer all your questions.
