Default 30 WCF and 30-30

I was fortunate enough to inherit my great uncles 1946 Model 94 Winchester in 30-30. Other than the rifle looking brand new the barrel is stamped 30 WCF which means Winchester Centre Fire. The story on a thread I read is that it was Marlin who started using 30-30 as the term and not Winchester. Is this true?
With it is a box of shells looking pretty 50's. CIL which is Canadian Industries Limited- Dominion- 30-30 - 170 gr KKSP. What is the KKSP? I remember Dominion as a kid and the name changed to Imperial into the 70's and then faded away.
