Default 2013/14 Trapping goals

Well, fall is rapidly approaching...time to thaw some unfleshed beavers and get at it. Time to pick up some materials for box construction, float construction, etc. Time to set up a plan for this season. Anyone else start this early, or should I give my head a few shakes? Anyways, what are everyone's goals for this coming season? Is is really sweet to see them come too fruition, especially when called so early in the season. Here are mine for this season:

Wolves-1 (gotta start somewhere)!
Coyotes-60
Fox-12
Fishers-Quota
Marten-6
Weasel/Ermine-25
Squirrels-25
Beavers-120
Muskrats-800
Mink-12
Otters-10
Lynx-Quota

Well, now I see I have to pick up a few more supplies and traps.

Don't worry...you're not alone! I have been dyeing traps, snares, and link cables. Chunking, grinding, and ageing beaver meat. Mixing and bottling lures. Building and storing trap boxes...even stashing a few on the line. Cutting firewood at the cabin. Cleaning old trails and cutting new ones. And of course...READING THIS FORUM"

(if you want more specific)5 wolves, 100 yotes, 20 marten, quota of fisher, 20 beaver, no interest in squirrel or ermine

Holy Cr#p Spruce...
Just looked at your goals again...125 beaver and 800 rats. That's a bunch of aquatic critters. I'm just curious...and if you don't mind sharing...are you on a registered line... or resident trapping. My line would not produce 800 rats in 10 years...not much for sloughs or ponds. Always find it interesting how various areas produce differently.

Junior on a registered line. Most of my trapping is done on private land though...roughly 90-95%. Line might produce 30-40 beaver, and all quota animals including otters as it has a long stretch of a big river on it. Can't wait...

It's that time of year, leaves turn color, startin to think bout trappin.
Couple of beaver in the freezer that need fleshing, and been working out a managment plan for next season.

Wanting to cut 10km to open up an old trail, and hope to beat last years Lynx numbers.
See what happens once we get out there and what kind of sign is out there.

Looks like you regular trappers got some big numbers in mind , hope you get em and more . I've been trapping a little on private land here in southern Alberta since I was a kid , so no lofty numbers for me . My goal is to not catch something I have to get taxidermied !! 2 years ago I caught a beautiful bobcat and last year an otter ,. The wife and family insisted that both go to the Taxi as they are very rare in our area .No big deal for most of you but I do it just for fun . Beauty job on the cat and otter should be back by Christmas . Good luck to every one , snow will soon be here .

Was on the trapline Saturday, trying to get a trail cut,in a spruce thicket.
There was so many wind falls, across the trail,i spent most of the day trying
to get to where I left off last year.
Got to build a cabin so I don't have to walk to far incase of break downs.

Season goals..to do better than last year.

Default 2013/14 trapping goals

I'm hoping for 60 coyotes this year. Usually about average for me. A few fox would be nice too. Good luck this winter everyone.

We always have a great season whatever the results are. We are ready to go...all snares ready, martin boxes up, some log sets for 330's for wolverine cut out, bait perculating in the pails, some fresh beaver in the freezer.

Our number one "goal" or wish is to catch a white wolf. We have caught every other colour, even a real orange one that was very unique.

A little trail work yet to come but I can't wait until the grizzlies go to bed and we can get started!

Question Early fur

I am new to trapping. I am on private land when would beaver fur be ready so I can start trapping. Lots of problem beavers and raccoon. I would like to start thinning out the numbers but would like to pelt them instead of just killing them and chucking them in the ditch. Any help would be appreciated.

30 weasel
100 yotes
150 rats

I have a spot that might have a few Marten but not sure if I can catch them on a resident license on private land or not. i will have to go check the regs. I just got permission on this property and might pull a few off of it if I can

I hope to do alot better with the marten. Last season was by far my worst with only 2. With current prices I want to get at least 15 but 20 would be an all time best. My line does not have alot of anything but has a little something of everything so I like to harvest a mixed bag.

3 wolves
6 coyotes
first fox
25 weasel
10 lynx
4 fisher
2 otter
20 marten

Man if you ever need a junior.....any trap line that requires a chopper to get into would have some sweet fur and an extreme lack of trap theifves! Oh, and I don't have a chopper
