Default Instant of Ignition

I was shooting today, testing some .30-06 handloads and captured this wild picture, right at the instant of bullet ignition.

Look at the end of the muzzle, still orange.

I thought it was sorta cool...

Weird, my boresight is green, suppose they sell orange ones though.

Interesting photo for sure, thanks for sharing.

Lol, I was video taping at 60fps so I guess that's how I was able to capture that.

Freeze frame from the video. Never expected that of course!

But yeah, I'd love to see more of that kinda stuff!

Cool picture. But wouldn’t that be after the bullet has exited the muzzle?

So muzzle flash happens before the bullet leaves the barrel?

^ Yes of course, since the powder ignites under/behind the bullet, obviously to see that flame means the bullet is already down range.

It was a fluke thing to get that.

Since I was video taping my shooting, I happened to be scrolling through the video frame-by-frame, and at 60 frames per second you can catch something like that. But it was completely unintentional, I didn't expect that, didn't plan for that etc...

No one said it did matter. And I agree. It is a cool photo. I think I’ve said that already.

What would you like me to say? “Yes, I agree. The bullet is indeed long gone in that cool photographic capture. Well said my good man. Jolly good.”

I read 'it is' as I agree. No sure what else it would mean. There was no question mark. Not weird or odd.

Again cool picture!

Seems to matter to you or you wouldn't have added the correction. Something wrong with just "cool pic" and leaving it at that or would the thought of someone making an error have kept you up at night?

So just for the record, I was video taping my shooting form to self-evaluate my shooting form/position/follow-through. Especially after the embarrassing miss on that wolf (Nov 29).

Obviously the rifle bench is vastly different than an instant shot opportunity in the wild. So this isn't intended to mimic that...

I've been on the reloading bench trying to get a nice accurate handload, with Hornady 190gr BTSP. This was range session #3 of this past weekend.

And anyway, when I got back home I was scrolling the video frame-by-frame to see what my shooting form looked like.

And in the frames immediately after this, then the entire recoil/reaction of rifle and shooter was looked at, critically.

And it was also really interesting to observe the entire recoil/reaction process.

Neat picture. If you scroll back a frame or two you might actually find a picture of the bullet exiting the muzzle.

Pretty cool pic. Kinda like catching some footage of a fart. Gotta be pretty quick.

That is an awesome photo! If you plan to do it again, have you considered using a 120fps GoPro? It might catch the lead pill in the muzzle blast, as well as give you a more detailed look at your form.
