Default Pigeon...Game On!

Headed to Pigeon this morning. Timed it nicely with light just starting before the sunrise. Used the sled to get around.

Started fishing just before 8 a.m. Not too long before I had some whites...I think milling about. It was a bit too dark to tell but I think they were whites. Missed 2 and then hooked one for a bit and lost it. I could tell it was going to be a good day from how agressive the whites were hitting.

Missed twice on the biggest white I have seen there. The width of its back was double the usual size. Biggest I have seen at Pigeon. I would guess around 6-7 lbs. Things really picked up at 9 a.m. Managed to ice my first white followed up with a 2nd. They kept getting bigger! Ended up with 4 whites on the ice, packed up and headed out at 11 a.m. Smallest white was 3.3 lbs , followed by a 3.9 lber, 4.4. lber and a 4.7 lber (23 inches).

Great morning at Pigeon! Love that lake - whites a huge!

What side of the lake was that on? I'm thinking of heading there for some fishing soon. Nice whites by the way. I caught a nice 4 pounder last year but I did see one that was probably 6 lbs but was too smart to take the hook. There tough to get but when you figure them out it is a big reward.

Very nice Snap! Think the ice will be ready for driving on next week? Which side of the lake were you on? Wish I could get just one of those critters.

Thanks all!

Started out in 6 FOW of water. Got my first 2 there. By 9:30 a.m. I was out in 9-10 FOW. Managed 1 there but didn't see as many so went back to the first hole and got my last one at 11 a.m. I was fishing out from Johnsonia. Ice was about 12-13 inches. Getting close to drivable for me.

There are some good ice heaves near shore along that stretch. It would likely be driveable but the heaves are going to cause some pains.

Good luck out there!

I don't know about fewer. There are plenty of whites in that lake. Not a crazy population like Sylvan but plenty nonetheless.

I went out there today. Was set up around 9, saw a few good walleyes early on. The whites were cruising through most of the morning to but not all that interested in anything we threw at em. They quit coming threw around 11:30am . Talked to a couple of other guys that were in 6 FOW & they weren't seeing near as many as we were. 14 " of ice, no problem driving on!! Only iced the 1 wally tho!!

What were you using for the whites? I'm trying to figure out what I should use when I go. Were you using an underwater camera? I find the whites do not like them there at all.

Is the mulhurst area usually good this time of year? I have never fished pigeon for whites before march.
