Not a vote for Costco, but sometimes their prices are good. But for a good steak, the best I recall for the least cost has always been a Chuck Steak, Medium Rare of course. Parts of the chuck are fairly tough, but chewable and very flavorful, and there is one part that is nice and tender.

However that slab of striploin from Costco is a hekuva deal, but costs a fair bit more per pound than chuck

Default Blade / Chuck

For me, I always buy a Blade beef steak over a Sirloin, any day. Better marbling/flavor. If I don't feel like paying for a Rib steak.

for the cheepest steak i recommend sparrows

i kid, i kid..

nothing beats a good moose steak for price. for 350lbs of meat it cost me less than $100 and i did all the butchering myself.

but nothing beats a good beef rib eye for taste.

the old man buys the whole sirloin from costco and ages it for quite a while in the vacuum sealed container. those turn out to be some pretty awesome and cheaper steaks.
