Smile Chip Lake Goldeye

I was flipping through the BM Fishing guide and saw that Chip Lake apparently has goldeye. Has anyone seen a goldeye come out of there? It's quite a shocker to see them in lakes and just wondering.... It would be kinda cool to ice fish for them eh?

An old net fisherman told me that a bunch of years ago he used to get goldeye from there.

It connects to the Lobstick which connects to the Pembina, so it makes some sense, but I've never heard of those fish doing well in any lakes before, so I wouldn't be suprised if they all died out of there. The lake is pretty shallow.

I don't know if the water level in the Lobstick has been high enough to dump any more fish in there, but no one seems to get anything other than pike and burbot out of there now.

Thanks Ryan, that really helps, I read somewhere that goldeye thrive in large shallow lakes, so I don't know! I hoping there are some still left, but you never know.

Default goldeye

Chip lake is a large shallow lake similar to Lake Claire in the Peace-Athabasca delta in wood buffalo national park. There is a commercial fishing industry for goldeye in Lake Claire. Maybe there is some left.
