Default Ensuring survival of Rainbows in private farm pond

I have a friend who just started managing a ranch down by Cochrane this past summer. On the ranch is a pond with some nice size rainbows (20" to 22"). There is an aeration system set up with a wind mill. His question, which I could not answer, is: is this sufficient to maintain the fish through the winter? Or do we have to have open water in order to be sure the fish are getting sufficient oxygen? TIA.

if the aerator works then it should be fine. I know of a one-acre dugout that's aerated with a windmill that overwinters SW of calgary no issues
