Default Canada Geese - normal behaviour or neat trick?

I attempted fly fishing on the Bow yesterday but gave up due to the high winds. On the walk back to the truck I saw a Canada goose flying towards a large poplar, I thought it was going to crash but then it landed in the tree (graceful it was not). Is this normal? I've never seen anything like it before.

I've seen that before, not often and a little weird the first time seeing it though!

Default Quite common

We have 2 Canada geese that nest at the top of a 60 ft. Ponderosa pine every year in our yard in BC. It's about 50 feet from the river and when the hatchlings are in yellow down stage, we have watched the parent geese push them out of the nest to the ground, then proceed to waddle them to the river where they stay and grow up.

Three years in a row now, very neat to watch!

There are two that hang out on my neighbours roof for a few days every year for the last few years. Noisy buggers.

I've seen this for a few years now on the North Sask. See them while I'm fishing.

In the calgary bird sanctuary they used to have goose nesting platforms approx 20' in the air. Same as mentioned above, mom will push ducklings off when it's time to start swimming
