Default North Sask. River

How does the river look through edmonton? Is it frozen over? I have not seen it since winter started.

river is always open just down stream of the gold bar outflow on the south side of the river, east of 50th street. Park at the boat launch and take the trail along the river to the outflow....can't miss it (the flowing one, not the first drain you will see). I take my dog walking down there all the time and do a bit of fishing along the way. The bank father downstream fell in earlier this year and has produced a few interesting pockets. Lots of dead fall and snags, but work 'em carefully and you will be rewarded!!! All the guys in Cowtown always brag about fishing the Bow in the winter, this is Edmonton's little bow. Its a good stretch of always open water with lots of good deep holes, eddies and structure. Having said this it will probably be packed this nice weekend, but hey, Share the wealth!! Peace out!!

Just practice catch and release in that spot. The sewage effluent out fall get's huge flows on warm days in the winter due to the combined sewage collection in some parts of the city. In high flow situations the sewage can not be fully treated.
