Default RV Slide Out Awning

Does anyone have any experience installing one of those awning covers that automatically unroll when you extend your RV slide outs? I am wanting to get one but don't know if it is something I want to attempt myself or just pay for my local RV place to do it. It's an Rpod 178 so the slide out is about 6' wide.

they work well but don't leave them out in the heavy winds or hail

medium difficulty to install

great for keeping crap out of the camper that comes in on top the slide

So if it gets windy have to pull your slide in.
I have been in some terrible winds and never had a problem.

As mentioned, heavy wind is an issue. I've had to throw a small strap over the centre of the slide the long way and belly wrap it with just enough tension to stop the flapping and chattering that would eventually rip it.
Make sure you get as much slope as possible on it (as high up the wall of the main trailer as reasonable) so that it will help it drain the water off properly. Otherwise it just puddles up and creates a lake and stretches the fabric making it loose. I had quite a fight with this issue on my last trailer. Dealer didn't/couldn't get the wall end up high enough on the wall due to the top roof line sloping down in that area.
Otherwise I wouldn't do without them because I've seen enough wet floors in the trailer from bringing the slide in while raining or with a puddle on the actual roof that then drains onto the floor. As well the wet snow will roll off when you bring in the slide. It also keeps the leaves and branch bits off the roof and from jamming up into the seal.
Otherwise you have to have a ladder to get up there to check and clean it off.
Be weary of where you are fastening to. The arms that mount to the slideout wall have a lot of force against them and if not screwed into anything substantial, they will start to pull out and allow water in as well. I've had to redo these on my current trailer(already on when purchased).
