In my opinion, Vegas is one of the best and probably toughest to beat teams. They don’t have the points in the regular season to show for it, but I believe this is the case. So I don’t think Dallas is going to make it (didn’t think from the beginning).

Both Tampa and Islanders are down 3 games to none. Definitely didn’t think Tampa would be down like that.

So the Islanders and the Lightning are both down 3 - 0 backs against the wall, could be 3 short series in round 1 as I don't give the Caps much hope against the rangers

Neither did I, actually picked them to win the cup. Thought they had one of the best goalies, top three lines, and top two pairings in the west. I still think they're better than Vegas, just haven't been able to put it together yet for some reason.

^ Best goalies? I must be remembering wrong, but they were both pretty mediocre in the regular season, no?

Edit: Agree with waldedw on the Caps situation.

Guess it depends on how you judge.

I don’t see wins alone as a significant factor at all. Oettinger Was 26yh in the league in saving percentage (.905); the other guy was 36th (.899). GAA was slightly better but still far from spectacular, 19th for the former and 24 for the latter - 2.78 and 2.85, respectively. Oettinger was14th in shots against.

They are a good team, but I wouldn’t say that their goaltending is great, personally.

Edit: couldn’t understand what gives, but I now see your link is from last year.

Ya wins don’t mean nothing for goaltenders.
Especially if your guys in front of you know how to bury pucks.
You could have skinner and Pickard in net and still get over 100 points. lol

It's from this season, a few months ago.

Like I said, depends how you judge.

Vasilevskiy had a 0.900 SA% and 2.90 GAA. David Rittich had a 0.921 SA% and 2.15 GAA. That doesn't make Big Save Dave a better goalie in my mind.

^ The article is based on the last year’s stats (what I meant) and is from last August. Unless you linked the wrong one.

Vasilevskiy never found his consistency after the last season (played injured in the playoffs) and is not the same guy as he was last season and a few prior. I do, indeed, think he was the best guy in the net for the past few years, generally speaking. Rittich is a back up goalie who hasn’t played more than ~25 games per season in a few years. They still put Talbot in the net now and I would think for a reason. But they sure have a potentially good back up this year.

That list isn’t really the same this spring. Regardless, we shall see how things play out.

Rangers are just a better team. Caps don’t stand a chance. Even though the shots are close, they aren’t the same. Shesterkin also, while letting a weird one in, has been on his toes. Great goaltending from him. Two shorthanded goals from the Rangers in the last two games too.

Vacouver 2 goals on 7 shots.

Great effort by the Caps in the third, but Shesterkin is on top of his game.

Canucks just beat the Preds with a lousy 12 shots on net all game.

Unbelievable…..

The Jets were somewhat like the Kings last night, they self destructed with penalties.

Do we see 2 teams go home today ?? can the stars win 1 in LV ?? and can the Leafs get back to even ??

Preds block shots but when they get through there is a chance it’s a goal.

Canucks just gotta keep it up and get the wins.

That’s what matters!

Can TB do the same

That was Tampa that I was expecting to see from the beginning (less goaltending issues). Sergachev made a big difference though.

Didn’t think Islanders would make it though.

Expecting to see Toronto winning today, but can go wither way.

Marner is whining. Throwing gloves.. players fighting on the bench.

They’ve all but given up and making excuses and blaming now.

lol.

I don’t see Leafs in the next round.

Not a Bruins fan but I hope this doesn’t go beyond 5 games.

Yup, perfect, the center of the hockey universe is spinning of it's axis and all the sports net announcers and thinking about what they are going to talk about after Tuesday

I sure thought Toronto would come through.

Dallas sure shot a lot of puck!

Watching the Leafs game , they are so slow heading up the ice. It’s like they are waiting till the Bruins are ready before they come into their end. So slow compared to the Dallas /Vegas game where they are flying end to end.

Oh boy Canucks are either going to be in trouble or we are about to witness a Cinderella story of the goaltending variety…

Looks like Hughes might be injured as well.... chance of them winning keeps decreasing. I think its better for Oilers if Nashville wins.
