Default Rainbows galore

Police outpost now a trophy lake,a excellant lake for the serious flyfisherman ,no serious damage done,as those fighting beauties released to live another day.i am sure most everybody crushes the barb for injury free release.Got a boat but want to wade some?Go across the lake to the run out a beautiful grassy bank to relax and have lunch. Those big boys cruise right in point blank chaseing the bugs to the weeds,no indicator needed here,a light leader with most any 16-18 brown black fly,4lb works good so need a light strike, lose a few sure dont matter thats absolute fun.Thats the places i dream about these long cold winter days.

It's been a so called trophy lake for quite a few years now. Am I missing something?

No i fished it manyyears before they made it a trophy lake, now seems for the most part the wormers have gone, and mostly fly fisherman.I have let go some really big rainbows, cant wait for ice off, same over to bull.

I've only fished Police once, several years ago. Tossed some lures from shore, managed one decent Bow, bout 18". Two things I really liked about the place...
1- unlike "trophy" Bullshead you can camp at P.O., as well the lake is more secluded and if the wind blows there are spots u can tuck in. Bullshead offers none of this, and the parking lot is full on any given decent weather day.
2- It's en route to my favourite place in the world, that being the Crowsnest Pass. Looking forward to chucking some flies this year at P.O., take in some bird watching, wrangling some bows and chilling by the fireside in the eves.
Nice lake and well managed.

Crownest ssoooo beautiful Place. There is a fishout pond near there in a road to a free for all public camping, that now bad road to the lake.Lots of rainbows riseing, not biteing. Then i observed a gentleman wadeing around a swamp with sneakers. He joined his fishing pard, useing spin gear and water weighted floatsthey began to haul in some nice rainbows, between beers.I moved closer. They were useing live dragon fly nymphs.Oh boy,a new one on me.
