Default Converting CUP to PSI

Sometimes we would just like to know what those CUP pressures mean in relation to PSI. This formula will get you in the PSI pressure BALLPARK ONLY and should not be taken literally . The margin of error can be over 2000 psi, depending on the cartridge, load densities and a few other factors. It's just a bit of useful info with a non-useful application.

Convert CUP to PSI :

1.516 x CUP minus 17,902

In the avoirdupois system, the units of pressure are pounds per square inch and in the metric system, the units or pressure are newtons per square meter (pascals). A chamber pressure measured with a copper crusher gauge would be expressed as psi (CUP) in the English system or MPa (CUP) in the metric system. From Wikipedia

.. Also see SAAMI chamber pressure method.

Not unexpected, there is no direct conversion between CUP and PSI.

That is correct . There is no direct conversion. However, if you use the formula to convert to CUP to PSI you can reverse the formula to convert PSI to to CUP ... ( PSI+17,902 / 1.516 ). These formulas come very, very close but are not totally reliable and serve no real purpose.. just better than a real good guess. Kill time as well.
