R.I.P. Cst. Northrup and thank you for your service. Sincere condolences to your family and to the Toronto Police Service.

Since capital punishment is no longer an option, may the scumbag who did this rot in hell.

Heartbreaking, to say the least.

Condolences to his family and friends, and speedy recovery to his partner.

Sad to see, but I won't be surprised if the person in custody has a criminal record, and should have been behind bars, where he couldn't have run down the officer.

Motor vehicles sure seem to be used more and more as weapons to murder people.

Heart breaking and makes a person angry beyond description.
Blatant disregard fir a person's life.
The death penalty may not fix things but it sure will eliminate those who do things like this and it will cost less money to tax payer in the long run.

This is just terrible.

Something has to be done about these scumbags rotating in and out of prison.

We need judges with back bones.

GodBless Constable Northrup.

Agree 100%. These foreigners (Umar Zameer), run down a policeman with a vehicle (Aka Edmonton couple years ago).

Scum like this should not be arrested.................. but rather exterminate, save the taxpayers millions and make sure they never reoffend, our legal system is weak to say the least

So the scum bring their violent culture into our country [Thks for opening flood gates Tru Dork] and everyone , especially LEO's have to tip toe around. I'm that officers partner my first mag is empty in seconds.....enough is enough. It's simply bizarre and good men doing their jobs are dying.

I don't know if the officer had the opportunity to defend himself or not, but can't help but wonder how reluctant our police officers must be to use their service pistol in that type of situation.

The current media narrative and lack of support from leadership is failing our police and costing lives to the benefit of criminals.
