The Northern Lights Fly Fishers club has arranged for two qualified instructors to provide a couple of classes for people who want to learn how to fly fish. They're one-day classes on Sat Apr 29 or Sat May 6th from 9 to 4:30 at Queen Mary Park Community League Hall, 10844-117 St., Edmonton. Course covers basic equipment needed, basic knots, finding fish, choice of flies, presenting the fly to the fish and hooking, playing and landing techniques. There's also hands-on casting instruction. Bring your own fly rod, reel, line and leader if you have them but if not there will be some club equipment available for use. Lunch is provided. Cost is $75 and if you'd like to attend email
events@nlft.org
Also there's a free Fly Fishing Open House from 10 to 4 on Sat April 15 at the same Community Hall with chance to try fly casting, fly tying, identify fish and see some of the bugs they eat, games and treats for the kids, and free hot dogs and pop. Everyone's welcome.
