Default Caesar Lake Outfitters Moose Hunt

I just received a 'too good to pass up' deal on a moose hunt for this autumn, first week of October. Grizzly as a secondary animal as well as wolves and black bears. Really looking forward to it, I haven't hunted the YT for about 25 years. If anybody has any tips or insights or pictures from the area, please share. Dream hunt for me.

Enjoy! You need to get away from work more often.

I haven't been there but two of my hunting buddies have. They have nothing but first class comments on the Wilkinson's and their operation. From what they tell me you are truly going to experience an adventure of a lifetime!

The fishing if you have time is apparently stellar!

Good luck and look forward to your pics.

I used to live there and love the area. I will be driving to Watson(so I can return with meat if I am fortunate enough to get a moose) , a trip I did many times years ago, it will be interesting to see the highway again after all these years.

You will have a blast.

What style of hunt? Backpack, boat, horse, atv?

All of them offer different experiences and prep required. My normal experience in the yukon is there are far less animals than what i would think a person should usually see. But every trip and area is different.

If you are up in October, leaves won't be an issue. Some colder weather, snow, rain, and great hunting ahead!

Good luck and send pics when you get out!

It is a boat hunt. That is what was available, so, it is what I got It is actually a hunt I've always wanted to do for moose anyway, so, I'm ceratainly not against it in any way.

Default Moose

I hunted with them last year for caribou. They are a fantastic group. My guide was James and he was very knowledgeable and just an all around great guy. You will have a blast!

Joel has a good area and some solid moose, his area borders mine for 120 miles or so along the Yukon/BC border.
I was talking to him earlier today when he was doing the scheduling scramble trying to make everything fit.

Hopefully you find a good bull and smash a grizzly that wandered out of my area into his lol

Awesome, you'll have a blast! Being a boat hunt, you can probably take along a few extra items then you normally would on some of the other styles of hunts. Especially if you're in a cabin each night.

I would recommend two pairs of boots (possibly rubber boots and hikers), and you can definitely bring more clothes for that late and type of hunt. Calling moose from a boat is one of the best trips you'll ever do. Good luck and have fun! I've been to the yukon 3 times for moose and loved every minute of it. Prepare yourself to hunt for 10+ days to see a monster moose if the timing isn't right.

Driven with Pat and Nicole just aired part one of a boating archery moose hunt with Caesar lake outfitters on the sportsman channel. Looked like an awesome experience.

Should be an awesome hunt. We do fly-in boat moose hunts and I'm a big fan of chest waders. As long as it isn't too hot or cold enough where keeping your feet warm is an issue. I just like the fact I don't have to worry much about getting wet in and out of the boat and walking through marshes. Also if it rains just throw on a rain jacket and you're good to go. Everybody has their preferences. Good luck!

Leaning toward the new 340. I have a Ruger #1 in 35 Wh and the Cooper 375 that I am considering but it will likely be the 340 if I have a load done in time

Darn. Understand your choice but I'd have loved hearing how the Whelen performed for you. Love the cartridge.

Why go undergunned when you have a weatherby as an option?

I have no advice for you, but I'm really happy and excited for you!

I hope to be able to do something like that with my kids someday.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures when you return!
