What was your first bow?

With all the threads asking what to get for a first bow i thought guys could share what there first bow was. Mine was a used High country sniper. At 16 years old I thought it was the best thing going. I managed to kill my first archery elk and bear with it so I guess it worked just as well as any new bow I have ever had. What was your first bow?

Mine was a martin phantom bought used from Lane archery.

Mine was an old browning. Not sure of the model, but it was pre-mirage as I recall. It had the actual metal cable cables, and the teardrop ends to change the string. I killed my first archery moose and whitetail with it and missed a couple of elk. Kinda funny to think back to the stuff we started with! Scary how far the equipment has progressed!

Martin fibreglass recurve. Age 5. Then a Jennings micro carbon extreme when I was 8 for my first compound.

Mine was a hand me down HCA Supreme, 70-80 pound bow. That was my Dad's he shoots left handed too. Shot my first couple of archery moose and a mule deer with it.

Mine was a Bear Bruin 60#er that I saved my pennies for and bought from a SMALL local sporting goods store when I was about 13. In a year or two I upgraded to a 80# Clearwater Archery Power Mag. A few years later I had Dave Power's (Clearwater Owner as well as multiple IBO Champ then) special build me a 130# Power Mag. OH.....to be YOUNG, STRONG, and STUPID again. LOL!!!! Luckily I had a short draw length back then as the 2419's with a 130 grain muzzy on the end JUST were stiff enough. LOL!!!

...a Golden Eagle...cant remember the model. 60 lbs I think. Paired up with some gucci Easton aluminum 2117's..then got cocky and went 2018's maybe, ha ha, cant recall. Aluminum arrow days were a hoot. I must say, i LOVE the carbon now...they are either straight or broken in half, no in between to decide on a slight dent/bend.

VERY shiny black limbs with gold lettering. Pretty hot at the time. I pimped it up with velcro camo limb covers

Had a used Martin warthog , LH . 70#'s used aluminum 2317 arrows . Loved the thick wood riser , nice and warm in the cold weather stands . Next moved on to a Martin Cougar mag with the Mega wheels , that I wore out , both these bows I finger shot and had great success . Third one was a used Mathews Conquest 60 pounder and my first release aid and carbon arrows .. welcome to the Future !! LOL .. Now shooting an APA MAMBA 6 at 56 #'s and even at that weight it out performs all the others ..Gotta love technology even tho I would go back to shooting with fingers if I could .

Browning nomad when i was 14. Steel cables and wooden riser. The thing is ugly as sin but it still resides on the wall beside gun cabinet. Dont think ide try and shoot it 24 years later though

Mine was a 45 to 55 lb compound assembled by Bigfoot Archery in Lethbridge.
And sold the The Archery Lanes in Med Hat (in Brier Park)

My first was a Prairie Fire made by the Archery Buying Club. It was a bow put together by Wendell Mills for my dad. Later on as dad got more and more into archery and purchased more bows, he passed this one down to me. It was slightly too long of a bow for me, but we were able to make it work as long as I had an arm guard My first two mule deer were taken with it, and just looking at it brings back fond and frustrating memories of the trial and error that I went through in learning how to bow hunt.

Autumn hunter made by Alpine archery. Bought new from Lane archery in Lethbridge. Killed lots of deer with it shooting 2317 Easton aluminum arrows. Shot well under 200 fps, but what it lacked in speed I made up for with determination! Oh to be young and single again!!!! Was a finger shooter as well. Now I shoot APA Mamba and love it

#60 Damon Howatt Mamba re-curve, was my first, it took over 2 dozen deer and uncounted grouse and rabbit. Still have it, beautiful wood finishes, a thing of beauty it hangs in my office.

40# Fed bear deer Slayer, traded an Ivor Johnson SXS for it and a mess od archery and arrow building equipment ( including a feather burner) in 1966
till have the Fred Bear quiver, circa late 50's.

Sounds like mine, bought in 1985 as well, which I still have. It was one of the first compound bows out with the recurve limbs, very smooth draw. Mine is 70 lb with 31-33" draw. Shot 2317 arrows, guy that used to own The Edmonton Archery Range called them fence posts..........LOL
